PACE U PRESENTS: THE WEAVERS

  ROUNDHOUSE THEATER
ACCIDENTAL FESTIVAL 2014

Sunday 25 May 6:30 pm

Directed by Julián Mesri

Adaptation by Julián Mesri and the members of Pace University's Performance Ensemble B

Gerhart Hauptmann’s seminal 1892 realist drama about a 19th century Silesian Weavers revolt meets the impossibility of college life in this new production.

At a time when the word ‘revolution’ brings to mind eye-rolls and protest movements are silenced soon after they are started Pace University students share the stage with Silesian Weavers in an effort to understand the never-ending—and necessary—cycle of dissent. When Hauptmann’s words mix with rock ‘n’ roll and rehearsed revolutions, The Weavers pieces together a lasting image of what happens when the disenfranchised can no longer keep silent.
